The SCHWEGLER Woodpecker Cavity 1SH has proven its worth as a roost cavity in test series to date.
Extensive long-term results on their use as breeding cavities can only be achieved in national practical trials – for this reason, this nest cavity is offered broadly as an explicit test and campaign item, so that potential users are given a product, in order to extend research to date.
Occupants:
Black Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Wryneck, Middle Spotted Woodpecker.
Preferred areas:
Black woodpecker: Forest areas with old trees.Green woodpecker: open landscapes with sun-drenched meadows with plenty of ants.
Wryneck: prefers areas with scattered fruit trees.
Middle spotted woodpecker: extensive oak forests.

SCHWEGLER concrete wood, rigid foam inner core, zinced hanger and zinced toggle latch.

Using the integrated hanger. On house walls approx. 8 m high or in areas of façades, that have already been pecked at by woodpeckers.
In open areas on vertical structures at a height of 5 – 6 metres.

Checking and cleaning:
The front panel and floor can be removed without tools; the inner core can be removed. Checks should not be made until the young birds have left the cavity, when not before you are sure that the cavity is occupied. It is only necessary to remove the inner core if the cavity is to be used again by woodpeckers. However, a new inner core can be ordered at any time as a spare part for a very reasonable price. If the used or pecked core is left in the cavity, it provides a place for other animal species to nest and breed.
